The Glory of GABA: Finding Stillness and Calm (ONLINE)

DISCOVER HOW YOU CAN HAVE AGENCY OVER YOUR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL WELLBEING.

GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is our 'off' switch.  It’s our major calming neurotransmitter and sufficient levels of GABA are critical for relaxation.  It also helps to improve memory and mood, relieves anxiety, and promotes sleep.

Low GABA can show up as an inability to focus or ADHD, low energy, panic attacks, and general or social anxiety disorders or phobias. It’s often what’s behind alcohol cravings too.

Lifestyle and nutrition can affect GABA, as can genetics and our hormones. In this workshop we’ll discuss some of these factors and what we can do to support our GABA levels.

Supporting Dopamine Naturally (in-person workshop)

DISCOVER HOW YOU CAN HAVE AGENCY OVER YOUR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL WELLBEING.

When dopamine levels are low, you might experience decreased motivation, apathy, and difficulty concentrating. You may crave substances like sugar, nicotine, alcohol or caffeine, or you may want to engage in dopamine-boosting behaviours like shopping for stuff you don’t really need, or gambling. Ultimately however, these behaviours and substances leave us dopamine-depleted, and so the cycle starts again.

The good news is, there are ways to boost your dopamine levels in ways that support your wellbeing.

This evening’s session is all about supporting the natural production of dopamine through nutrition, movement and breath.

MIDWINTER RETREAT: FINDING STILLNESS
Dec

to Dec 16

MIDWINTER RETREAT: FINDING STILLNESS

The theme of this retreat is finding stillness. Our nervous systems cry out for it, but it's something many of us struggle with. It can be especially elusive at this time of year - which is exactly the time when we should be hunkering down and taking extra special care of ourselves.
WHAT'S ON OFFER

Food will be nourishing and hearty, and there will be plenty of time to rest, sleep, read, or chat to the others.

There will be yoga & breathwork on offer, as well as structured group discussions which will include supporting brain and hormone health with nutrition, and how to shift self-damaging behaviour patterns (whatever they might be for you – alcohol, sugar, people-pleasing, overwork, staying up too late, self-sabotage, etc…).

The Magic of Serotonin (in-person workshop)

DISCOVER HOW YOU CAN HAVE AGENCY OVER YOUR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL WELLBEING.

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that’s involved in a lot more than mood. When we support the synthesis and release of serotonin, we also support:

  • Appetite control

  • Cravings for sugar and other refined carbs

  • Addictive behaviours

  • Anxiety

  • Gut health

  • Sleep

It really is a magical neurotransmitter, and it’s in short supply in our dopamine-chasing modern world.

This workshop looks at how we can support serotonin through nutrition, movement and breath.

Addictive Behaviours and our Energy Centres

This session looks at the energetics of addictive behaviours.

We will discuss how archetypes connect with our energy centres, and then how they can show up in self-damaging behaviour patterns. Examples of archetypes include the Wounded Child, the Saboteur, the Caregiver, the Rebel, and of course, the Addict.

Most importantly though, we will talk about how we can shift these damaging patterns of behaviour with self-compassion.

How to Break the Sugar Habit - a Masterclass

This is a Masterclass for people who want to cut down on their sugar intake, or perhaps quit eating added sugar completely.

So many of us turn to sugar to comfort us, to ease cravings, to fill a gap.

And, although it’s obviously not as damaging as alcohol, the impact of sugar on our mental health, our cognitive function, our hormones, our guts, our joints and our muscles, our immune system, is not to be taken lightly.

At this Masterclass, you'll find out how to:

  • Reduce sugar cravings

  • Change damaging patterns of behaviour

  • Implement lasting changes with self-compassion

  • Support low mood, anxiety and insomnia

  • Increase motivation and energy
